Conditions for Store vs. Wholesaler fulfillment

Many stores have questions about why an order did or did not go to Ingram (the wholesaler), and why the 'Send to wholesaler' button did not show up for certain orders.

To answer this question, listed below are the conditions when an order will be store fulfilled at the time of checkout, and when the store admin will see the 'Send to wholesaler' button on an order. Sometimes store admins will see the button on one day, but not the next day. This is because, every time the store admin goes to the order page our application will check if all the items in the order are available at one Ingram warehouse. That is a variable we have no control over.

At the time of checkout, when a customer is placing the order, an order is store fulfilled when any one of the following conditions is true:

1. ABA has disabled wholesaler fulfillment. This is a master control to disable wholesaler fulfillment for all stores, if there is a need. In the past 5 years we have had to use it only one time when our credit card processor was down.

2. The store has opted out of wholesaler fulfillment.

3. The customer has entered an 'Order Comment' during checkout.

4. Payment method is not 'Credit Card'.

5. Order has an international shipping address.

6. Order shipping method is NOT one of the following :

  • "Discounted Ground"
  • "UPS Ground Shipping"
  • "UPS Overnight Shipping"
  • "UPS 2-Day Shipping"
  • "USPS Priority Mail"
  • "FedEx Ground"

7. Order is Store pickup.

8. Order total is greater than $75.

9. Store uploads LSI and LSI is placed first in the fulfillment cascade.

10. Order has any store created products, Gift cards or gift certificates.

11. Any product in the order is marked up in price.

12. Order has short discount books and the store chooses to fulfill short discount books.

13. One warehouse does not have all books in the order. (One order cannot be split among the 4 warehouses).

14. Tax exempt order.

15. Order contains print and ebooks.

16. Ship as available is selected.

17. Billing and shipping addresses are different.

18. If the ship to address is an Armed Forces address and the shipping method is not USPS.

19. If the orders had a PO Box ship to address, and UPS shipping method.

20. If the title is "Coming Soon - Available for Pre-Order Now" or "Not Yet Published."

After the order was originally sent to the store, stores can send some of those orders to Ingram, based on the following checks. For all eligible orders, a 'Send to Wholesaler' button will appear on the admin order view page.

The 'Send to Wholesaler' button is not available if any one of the following conditions are present:

3. Order has an international shipping address.

4. Order shipping method is NOT one of the following :

  • "USPS Priority Mail"
  • "FedEx Ground"

5. Order is Store pickup.

6. Order has any store created products, Gift cards or gift certificates.

7. One warehouse does not have all books in the order. (One order cannot be split among the 4 warehouses)

8. Order contains print and ebooks.

9. After editing the order, if the order amount > the original authorized amount on the credit card.

10. If the order was already sent to Ingram and Ingram could not fulfill it.

11. If the ship to address is an Armed Forces address and the shipping method is not USPS.

12. If the orders had a PO Box ship to address, and UPS shipping method. 13. If the title is "Coming Soon - Available for Pre-Order Now" or "Not Yet Published."
